A Glimpse of Summer

As the days get longer and warmer,
Once a year from November to March,
People enjoy their summer holidays,
Celebrating and over consuming starch.

As the sun makes it hot, at times extreme,
We seek needed relief in a ice cold drink,
Whilst we head out to the dam, river or beach,
Some even enjoy an icy cool skating rink.

Though summer is pictured as fun in the sun,
Mother Nature has her own exciting ideas,
Destructive Fires, monsoons and cyclones too,
Reducing fine plans of BBQ's and beers.

Working at night to beat scorching heat,
Eager farmers sow their tough summer crops,
Hoping they will prosper against all odds,
Including but not limited to sunburned tops.

Santa Clauses in displays are placed, As a glittering festive atmosphere is faced, Catchy music now constantly playing, Whilst family and friends all come staying, Christmas trees are up and decorated, For some, hiding may be contemplated. As Christmas magic fills the air, It’s sprit creeping in most everywhere, Songs, laughter, smiling children’s faces, Mistletoe hung around near fireplaces, Festive decorations are near and far, There’s even reindeer antlers on the car. Holiday festivities fast on the rise, makes some give stressed or joyous cries, Feasts, games, decor and gifts, Siblings caught up in holiday tifts, Summer sun or white winter snow, Festive parties and barbecues are go, Outdoor activities are all a rage,

A mother with her newborn blossoming like a rose, Children with ice-cream, Snowflakes on your nose. Like a wolf howling on a mountain peak, Jet black panther smooth and sleek. Crisp winter winds blowing through the sky, Whilst majestic eagles soar way up high. A soft wind blowing through long hair, Natures beauty is everywhere. Like the Brumbies galloping lightning fast, The world is changing, life may not last. Like the young girl so sweet and pure, One day she’s drunk, the next even bluer. Like the little child with dreams everlasting, Mind full of hope with a fairy tale casting. Life is just life and at times really hard, The mind can be dangerous. Those close can be scarred.
