The Bushman & The Pirates

'Twas Early one morning, The Bushman set out,
To check on his grazing heard,
Before heading off to the seaside,
For his sister had sent urgent word.

That a pirate in his mighty ship,
Was plundering the eastern coast,
Waving his sword and issuing orders,
Whilst munching on vegemite toast.

He had stolen from all, be they rich or poor,
Be it jewels, gems or a child's lolly pop,
So The Bushman's sister had asked him,
To come try to get the pirate to stop.

As The Bushman rode overland,
He wondered how he could,
Cease the evil pirate plundering,
Everywhere his crew n he stood.

Within two days The Bushman arrived,
At his sisters artsy beachside home,
Where shell and driftwood art line walls,
And the floor is sand covered stone.

'Twasn't long till The Bushman brave,
Got to meet the nasty buccaneer,
Who was causing all the trouble,
'N' creating so much fear.

He was swiping The Bushman's saddle bags,
Right off of his chestnut horse,
When The Bushman came out words blazing,
Using all of his vocal force.

The Pirate, instead of fleeing the scene,
Drew his sword advancing fast,
The Bushman, determined to beat him,
Grabbed a bamboo stick as he ran past.

A mighty battle had now begun,
The evil pirate verse The Bushman brave,
Bystanders wondering which may win,
All hoping The Bushman wouldn't cave.

Clanging and banging filled the air,
As The courageous Bushman fought on,
Defending the Pirates every move,
Waiting for him to get it wrong.

The Pirate was over confident,
It would be him to win this battle,
For his sword was strong 'n' swung well,
'N' he thought he was hard to rattle.

The Bushman however, saw that he,
Was favouring his right,
So when The Bushman sent him leftward,
The pirate toppled over, right out of sight!

As he scrambled to his feet,
Trying to get away undetected,
The pirate heard The Bushman looking,
So back to his ship he retreated.

After the pirate had disappeared,
The Bushman went to recoup,
Gathering everyone that could help,
And Placing lookouts on every stoop.

The Pirate had noticed them from the bush,
In which he was hiding in wait,
Doing his best to make a plan,
So The Bushman would not decide his fate.

Alas he soon found his chance,
When a lookout received a call,
He scuttled on down to snaffle up,
Every totable thing big 'n' small.

Heading for a close side door,
Hoping to make an unnoticed escape,
As The Bushman came through the front door,
Soon grabbing his coat near the nape.

Dropping everything he'd snatched,
Trying to quickly get out of his coat,
Whilst The Bushman struggled to keep,
A tight hold Right up near his throat.

Whilst the struggle was between the two,
The Bushman's sister went for assistance,
Soon the local troopers arrived,
Yet the pirate kept up resistance.

Hours later the struggle came to a close,
The pirate finally gave in, defeated,
Police took him away in handcuffs,
Their task was now completed.

The Bushman however, headed down,
To where the pirate ship was moored,
Hoping the pirate crew now captain less,
Would give back the theived items they'd stored.

Alas when The Bushman arrived,
The Pirates had already sailed away,
Taking all their loot off with them,
So The Bushman decided to call it a day.

The next morning The Bushman set out,
With a tracker mate called Bob,
For getting everyone's stuff back,
'Twas going to be a big job.

After a few days of tracking,
The Pirates trail along the coast,
They stopped in at a quiet pub,
Planning to try their Sunday roast.

When across the dining room they spied,
The pirate crew jollfully a'munching,
With beers in hand, toasting freedom,
While pork crackling was heard to be crunching.

The Bushman walking over boldly,
Asked for the goods to be returned,
Surprisingly the first mate obliged,
So to their ship they all adjourned.

Once on board the Pirates ship,
The gang plank 'twas pulled aboard,
The Bushman and Bob now trapped,
'You scoundrels!' They both roared.

Fighting now had broken out,
'Tween all on that pirate ship,
But it wasn't too long before,
They jumped the planks foremost tip.

Back at The Bushmans Sisters town,
The pirate captain's bail was set,
At a price high enough to replace,
All he had stolen to his regret.

Alternatively the pirate captain could,
Fullfil a different kind of deal,
By returning all he had stolen,
Change his ways, no longer sneak 'n' steal.

With the sum of money too high,
For the pirate to make amends,
He contacted his traitorous crew,
Hoping the treasures they would send.

Unfortunately for the disgruntled pirate,
His crew refused to help him out,
So the Bushman did some negotiating,
To give all involved a better route.

The pirate captain now had to work,
To pay back all he had theived,
Whilst his crew went on a wanted list,
Until everything may be retrieved.

And so The Bushman bid farewell,
To his sister, neighbours, & friends,
Heading home, back to the bush,
All's well again, as this adventure ends.
