Dusty Outback

Long, dusty beaten tracks,
Along the mighty Darling river,
Where goannas and snakes,
Run, climb and slither.

Where kangaroos bounce,
And big brown emus run,
Flocks of cockatoos shriek,
Under a blazing hot sun.

Hot winds of dirt and grasses,
Small spiralling vortex storms,
Blistering heat all through the day,
After a cool, pleasant morn.

Communities close as families,
Many a truckie in his mack,
Vast open spaces through to bush,
A different world, the dusty outback.
